Another buzz word, more emperors new clothes? No “Integrated production” is a methodology sweeping through the advertising world, or actually not. These mega agencies are slow to adopt. They live on their silo mentality just as so many media organisations do. And why, is it just resistance to change? My experience is that resistance is futile and ultimately the down fall of many organisations. I see examples every day where the ad sales or sponsorship people keep production at arms length. Yet when it comes in in show integration it’s the production people that implement. So they can originate integration ideas, solve problems and ultimately sell ideas to the clients in the room. Again in tv land, press, promotions and production are kept separate, the digital people kept in the shadows by production. All of this leads to a fragmented message, confusing the audience. For many years I have been an advocate for integrated production. It’s only by working together across disciplines that we can excel. UX needs a unified creative front across app, social, digital, broadcast, VOD, print, pod and radio. Only the smaller agencies can offer this because they are not trying to turn an oil tanker. Smaller agencies are the nippy go karts that will disrupt tradition and brands, if they take a chance, will be better for it. #videoproduction #integratedproduction #pepperrafferty #jonathanglazier #camcreatives
